The 7S Tech Bootcamp

The Osun State Government, through the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy (MIST&DE), successfully conducted a five-day Technology Bootcamp aimed at equipping over 140 senior secondary school students with essential tech and entrepreneurship skills. The event, tagged “State’s Senior Secondary School Students Skill Show [The 7S],” took place from September 23 to September 27, 2024, at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Ede.

The bootcamp featured a diverse curriculum designed to enhance students’ competencies in various technological fields. Participants engaged in hands-on training sessions covering critical skill areas, including:

  • System Maintenance
  • Frontend Web Programming
  • CCTV, Telecoms, & Wireless Installations
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Basic Robotics
  • Space Education & Drone Technology
  • Entrepreneurship & Soft Skills

In addition to the student training, the programme included a two-day workshop for teachers, focusing on the theme “Impersonation: Impacts on Students’ & Youths’ Outputs.” This workshop aimed to empower educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to better support their students in the evolving digital landscape.

The initiative reflects the Osun State Government’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. By providing these training opportunities, the government aims to prepare students for the challenges of the modern workforce and inspire them to become future leaders in technology and business.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. O.B. Jolayemi, expressed her enthusiasm for the programme, stating, “Our beloved Governor, His Excellency, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, believes investing in our youth is investing in the future of Osun State. We are dedicated to providing our students with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world.”

The Osun State Government encourages all stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that promote education and skill development, ensuring that the youth are well-equipped to contribute positively to society.
